Swithland St Leonard's CofE Primary School

Inspire, Empower, Flourish

Welcome

Inspire, Empower, Flourish!

We believe every child deserves the very best start in life and here at Swithland we give every child that opportunity to grow: personally, academically and spiritually. Our children do make outstanding progress academically and achieve the highest results but we believe this is because of how we nurture each child. When a child knows just how much he or she is valued for who they are then that self belief sets the child up to achieve.

We do this by working in partnership with parents - building a relationship that has the most positive impact on developing our children. That relationship starts from the very first contact with the school; everyone is welcome to join our school family.

'Children's behaviour in lessons and around school is impeccable. Parents' views of the school are wholly positive. Comments such as 'the work of the school reinforces the Christian values of our family life' demonstrate the wider impact of the Christian character of the school.'

We have six core Christian values that the children and staff determined together in March 2013. These are: loyalty, friendship, trust, forgiveness, thankfulness and consideration. These underpin our school ethos:

School Ethos

At this school our aim is to provide a stimulating, secure and caring learning environment in which:

  • all members of the school community are equally valued
  • individual needs are met
  • everyone has the opportunity to achieve their full potential
  • co-operation is expected
  • effort and achievement are recognised and celebrated
  • differences are respected and tolerated
  • moral and spiritual issues are explored
  • learning is enjoyable and challenging
  • partnerships with parents, the Church and the community are welcomed.

Above all, we want to ensure that we inspire our pupils through our curriculum and their experiences in school, empower them by giving them the skills, knowledge and confidence they need so that they can flourish in whatever field they can excel in.
